Buns in the pink

BAKERS Delight Parkmore and local breast cancer survivor Chris Regan will join forces to raise money for Australians affected by breast cancer.
The ‘Pink Bun’ fund-raising campaign will see Bakers Delight Parkmore donate 100% of the sale of their pink finger buns and new jam-filled bunlets to Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) from 23 April – 13 May.
More than 630 Bakers Delight bakeries will aim to raise $1 million to help over 13,000 women and 100 men who will need BCNA’s support in 2009.
BCNA’s CEO and breast cancer survivor, Lyn Swinburne, said there was nothing more special than knowing a whole community was behind you.
“Walking into Bakers Delight Parkmore with our pink ladies displayed, the bakery staff wearing pink and seeing the customers put their donations straight into our tins is very special,” she said.
“The Pink Bun Campaign offers an opportunity for the community to pay tribute to local women and families affected by breast cancer.”
Since 2000, Bakers Delight has raised more than $2.7million towards helping support thousands of breast cancer survivors and their families in Australia.
Along with buying a pink finger bun, customers are encouraged to leave a personal message in support or memory of a loved one affected by breast cancer.
Tributes can be written on Pink Lady silhouettes, which will be displayed in the bakery as a visual demonstration of local support.
The public is encouraged to get behind the efforts of Bakers Delight Parkmore, purchase a freshly baked, preservative free Pink Finger Bun and vote online as they vie for the annual Pink Award. To find out more visit www.pinkbun.com.au
