Drive program on

By Bridget Cook
The City of Greater Dandenong is calling for volunteers for its L2P-Learner Driver Mentor Program.
The program is a community-based volunteer one designed to provide young learner drivers with access to driving practice, under the supervision of a fully licensed volunteer driver.
It is specifically designed for drivers aged 16-21, who face significant barriers in obtaining their Probationary Licence.
Both volunteers and learner drivers will be provided with training and the use of the L2P vehicle.
Mentor drivers are required to act in the role of a supervising driver and help a young person build up 120 hours of driving experience prior to going for their Probationary Licence.
Volunteers are also expected to build a positive relationship with the learner driver, providing friendship and non-judgmental support to the young person.
