Civic space in public eye

PLANS for Springvale’s civic space will come under public scrutiny at the Springvale City Hall on Saturday 24 August.
Community members can view the long-term vision for the precinct and discuss their thoughts from 10.30am to 1.30pm.
The Springvale community last year told City of Greater Dandenong what it would like to see happen to the space when the council relocates to its new Dandenong offices next year.
Mayor Angela Long said the master plan built on that consultation and earlier discussions and proposed upgrades for City Hall and the supper room, a new community meeting space in the former council chamber building, a new multipurpose library and community building, open space, an upgraded playground and active youth sports area.
The war memorial will be retained and relocated.
Residents can also view the draft plan at Noble Park Community Centre between 10am and noon on 19 August, Springvale Library from 2.30pm to 5pm on 20 August, the council’s Parkmore Shopping Centre customer service centre from 11am to 1pm on 22 August, Springvale South Shopping Centre from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on 22 August, and the council’s Springvale customer service centre from 11am to 1pm on 26 August.
