THE State Government still won’t reveal plans for the abandoned Southvale Primary School site.
Lyndhurst MP Martin Pakula in Parliament asked Education Minister Martin Dixon about the disused Noble Park schoolgrounds on Athol Road which were closed in 2012.
“Graffiti covers every wall, windows have been smashed and old broken furniture is scattered throughout,” he said.
“The site has become a gathering place for people who are up to no good.”
Mr Pakula said the site was having a negative impact on the local community and asked Mr Dixon why it was in its current state, why community safety issues had not been addressed and when plans for the site would be revealed.
Mr Dixon said he would follow up and get back to Mr Pakula “because I am not aware of it”.
Last November the Journal reported that the Education Department had declared the land surplus, so was required to offer it to other government departments, then the City of Greater Dandenong and finally the public.
The department would not confirm what stage the process was at, but the council confirmed it had not been approached about the site.
