HAILEYBURY College students are using small-change to make a big difference.
Students across its three campuses, including Keysborough, have collected more than 100,000 five-cent coins – raising $5092 for charity.
Teacher Martin Costello said students had been collecting increasing amounts for the YGap 5cent campaign over the past three years.
“It’s quite a task taking all the coins to the bank.”
The silver shrapnel will be used to fund the building of primary schools in Rwanda, educating rescued sex-slave girls in Cambodia and saving fresh-food throwouts for nutritional education in Australia.
