Bulls come to life

EASTERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE – round 14
HOPE remains alive for Noble Park’s finals campaign after a 64-point win over Scoresby.
With front-line forwards Brett Dore and Shayne Allan firing – kicking four goals apiece – the Bulls were too strong for the Magpies as they kicked 10 goals to five after the main break.
Only in his second match on return from a leg injury, Tim Kelly was best afield with a stellar effort roaming across the field while Bobby Kemperman and Nathan Carver were exceptional at either end of the ground.
The hard-as-nails Stewart Kemperman defied a recommended three-four week stint on the sidelines with a bicep tear as he took the field and gave all for his beloved Bulls.
The percentage-boosting win keeps the Bulls theoretically and mathematically alive in EFL’s Division 1 finals race – sitting six points off the pace of fifth placed Montrose.
To stay in the finals race, Noble Park will need to pull off another victory against league powerhouse Balwyn – emulating its Round 8 success over the Tigers, but this time at home on Saturday.
CASEY CARDINIA FOOTBALL LEAGUE – round 14
THEY’RE playing for the love of the club, but that love isn’t translating to points on the scoreboard as Keysborough fell to Berwick by 140 points.
Putting on the game face for another tough day at the office, the Burra was unable to halt the run of the Wickers’ fleet footed midfielders – as Berwick slotted 11-goals-to-one before half-time.
Better efforts in the second half accrued three goals to Keysborough’s name, but the damage continued to be inflicted at the other end.
Berwick’s Mitchell Johnson, aptly sharing the name of Australian spearhead fast bowler, smashed through the Burra defence as he drilled eight goals and Jordan Andrews (6 goals) also got among the party atmosphere. The best efforts came from Daniel Morland, Bryce Sutton and Glenn Humphreys while Morland and Joseph Scata slotted the four Burra goals between them equally.
On equal points with Hampton Park with only four rounds left, a wooden spoon could be the final gift the Burra receives in its tenure in Casey Cardinia Football League.
The beginning of the likely last month of Keysborough’s CCFL lifespan will begin on Saturday as it faces fellow low rankers Tooradin-Dalmore at Tooradin.
