A LOOK at the Anzac legend will take centre stage in Dandenong this weekend.
St John’s Regional College will host the Sons of Anzacs lecture and entertainment event from 2pm on Sunday, 31 August.
The two-hour presentation is part of commemorations for the 100th anniversary of Australia’s landing at Gallipoli in 2015 and the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Bien Hoa in Vietnam.
A 37-piece Royal Australian Navy Band (Melbourne Detachment) will perform military marches from Gallipoli to Afghanistan and the eras in between.
Military Cross recipient Lieutenant Colonel Gary McKay will be among the presenters. The author and military historian received recognition for leadership and extreme bravery.
Major Les Tranter will speak about his involvement in the largest single engagement by the Australian Army since World War II, the Battle of Balmoral/Coral in Vietnam.
The third presenter, Warrant Officer Class One Michael Grover, has served his country with distinction for 21 years, including five tours to Afghanistan.
Entry is a gold coin donation to the RSL.
