A HAIR-RAISING Dandenong event raised more than $3000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Colin Gibbons shed his locks for the World’s Greatest Shave at the Dandenong Workers Social Club on 17 March.
About 20 other shavers joined the cancer survivor – including his 17-year-old daughter Yao.
“She was colouring people’s hair. She decided she wanted to do it, too,” Mr Gibbons said.
“She’s gone the number four all over.
“I’m just so impressed with her.
“You should have seen her mother’s face when she walked in the door at home.”
Mr Gibbons said even the venue’s kitchen staff put up their hands for the fund-raiser and Dandenong hairdresser Ian Bray donated his services.
“It was just an absolute awesome night, we had so much fun,” he said.
“We had about 60, maybe 65 people there.”
A 10-year-old named Luke raised more than $1000.
“I’m just so pleased that it’s come up so well,” he said.
“We all need something positive in our lives.
“Next year we’re going to be back bigger and better.”
