SWASHBUCKLING fun is on offer in Keysborough this month to pay tribute to the world’s Peg Legs, Blackbeards and Long John Silvers.
Somerfield’s one-acre pirate playground will host its second annual International Talk Like a Pirate Day event from 10am to noon on Sunday 20 September.
Kids are encouraged to dress up and get into character as there’ll be prizes for the best-dressed pirate and best pirate impersonator.
Intrapac Projects chief operating officer Max Shifman said he hoped residents and visitors got into the spirit of the day.
He said Captain Jack Sparrow, Wilma the wench and Pirate Pearl the face painter would make appearances.
“There will even be a pirate tattoo station, balloon twisting, a chocolate treasure hunt and a pirate ship jumping castle for the kids,” he said.
Somerfield Social Club volunteers have organised the event with help from Intrapac.
The pirate playground is on the corner of Somerfield Drive North and Newbury Street, Keysborough.
