Golfers raise a charity storm

The threat of thunderstorms couldn’t keep golfers away from a charity tournament for students in need.
The sun made its way out for the annual Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation Charity Golf Day at Commonwealth Golf Club on Monday 20 March.
Ninety-five golfers took to the South Oakleigh course in the Ambrose event, with the ANZ bank team taking out the title.
A charity auction followed the tournament and raised more funds for the Dandenong-based foundation.
The event’s chief organiser and foundation board of trustees member David Willersdorf said the support from local businesses and the community as a whole “demonstrates the commitment to giving people access to world-class education and training, irrespective of their background and the hardships they may face”.
“I am deeply grateful for their continued support and we look forward to seeing this event grow from strength to strength over the coming years,” he said.
The Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation supports students living in the south-east who are experiencing hardship.
The foundation provides money to help them engage in their chosen course to further their academic studies and enhance their career ambitions and has so far helped more than 1500 students.
