Top leadership award for Scouts

Lorelle Smart, Margot James, Becky Nelson and Leanne Morgan.

More than 170 people watched four Venturer Leaders earn the highest leadership award in Springvale.
Leanne Morgan, Lorelle Smart, Becky Nelson and Margot James recently finished voluntary advanced training.
Scouting, community and family members gathered to celebrate the achievement at 2nd Springvale Scout Group on Friday 27 October.
They each received a gilwell scarf and the wood badge in the form of wooden beads.
They are a replica of a wooden warrior necklace and the honour dates back to 1888 when Scouting founder Robert Baden Powell was on a military campaign in Zululand, South Africa.
The Springvale Scouts provided a cake and a spit roast and took the opportunity to ‘scarf up’ honorary members in the community, include councillors from Greater Dandenong Council.
The four Scouts honoured shared more than 45 years of Scouting service.
Ms Morgan is from Willara Venturers, based at 2nd Springvale Scout Group.
She has been in Scouting since she was eight years old, when girls were first allowed to join, and has spent the past 32 years with 2nd Springvale, including 22 as a leader.
Ms Smart is from the Kalora Park Venturers, Ms Nelson the Gabbarra Venturers, and Ms James Wundarra.
The four units have a combined 68 venturers across the Dandenong and Casey districts, which are Scouts aged between 14.5 and 18 years.
