Christmas is a favourite time of year for singer Rhonda Burchmore.

With a backing live band, she’s set to croon dozens of classic Christmas songs at Drum Theatre.

It will be a warm mix of story and singalong, Ms Burchmore says.

Some of which trigger more than a little nostalgia for the celebrated entertainer whose parents both passed away in recent years.

Have Yourself a Very Merry Christmas was a favourite of her late Dad. Every time she sings it, it “brings a tear to my eye”.

“Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved everything about Christmas.

“These songs are like a legacy to my family.”

We Need a Little Christmas is an anthem for forgetting “all the troubles in the world”. It’s something we could use of this festive season, she says.

Ms Burchmore returns to Drum Theatre after the raging success of ABBA-Solutely Fabulous in 2017.

“I love coming here,” she says.

“It’s one of the best theatres around for acoustics.”

Wish Upon a Star – Rhonda Burchmore’s Christmas is on Thursday 6 December, 10.30am at Drum Theatre, corner Lonsdale and Walker streets, Dandenong. Bookings: 8571 1666 or drumtheatre.com.au
