SUZIE is one lucky dog!
When City of Greater Dandenong council officers found the stranded pooch near Springvale Road last week, they initially feared for its welfare.
The apparently homeless hound dog was not with anyone, so the officers returned to the council office, dog in hand.
“Council officers took her back to work and contacted Council’s Residential Amenity Unit for collection of the little dog to take her to the pound,” council officer Lisa Roberts said.
“It appeared that she had recently had puppies so officers were concerned for the welfare of the little dog and her puppies.”
Meanwhile, officers placed signs in the vicinity of the Springvale Road site.
“By 3pm, they had received a phone call from a concerned neighbour who had sighted one of the signs,” Ms Roberts said.
“The Residential Amenity officer was contacted as he was on his way to the pound in Cranbourne.
“He quickly did a U-turn and the little white dog was back home by 4pm, happy and safely reunited with her three puppies and her people.”
