THE New South Wales Government will look to Greater Dandenong for tips on litter control.
City of Greater Dandenong regulatory services manager Peter Shelton said litter control in the city had significantly reduced the amount of rubbish lining the streets.
He said the city had now been asked by the New South Wales Environment Department to include its approach in a handbook the department is creating for the state’s local government sector.
Mayor Peter Brown praised the city’s litter strategies.
“People underestimate the initiatives and strategies implemented by local government,” he said.
“This latest coup shows that we are really at the forefront in litter management and I commend everyone involved in the successful management of litter.”
