After one night, goodnight!

By Shaun Inguanzo
DANDENONG’S newest nightclub has folded just one week after it opened.
Club Pulse, located within the Nu Hotel premises in Scott Street, opened last Friday and managed to attract just 100 people to its 760-person capacity venue.
An intimate crowd of young people loyal to cover band, Adam 12,which previously performed at the now-defunct Furnace Nite Club in Fountain Gate, made up a majority of the crowd.
But this week, Club Pulse manager Steve Amundsen shut down the club barely one week after it opened.
He said despite expensive advertising and heavy media coverage, he was not confident the club would be successful.
Meanwhile, young people have now been left with fewer clubbing options.
Cranbourne residents Steph Williams and Nicole Tilley said young people were thirsty for a new club.
“(Furnace) was so long the place to go on a Friday night,” Ms Williams said.
Last Friday night, the pair were optimistic the numbers would increase as word-of-mouth spread.
“I know it’s the opening night but in a few weeks we will see what it is like,” Ms Williams said before the shock announcement of the club’s closure.
Belgrave’s Jamie Etherington and Dandenong’s Simon Miller were both delighted the club had opened.
“We used to go to Furnace, we were part of the good crowd, we just wanted to dance,” Mr Etherington said.
“Give it a month and (Club Pulse) will go off,” he said, “when word spreads this place will be very popular.”
