GREATER Dandenong’s mayor has formally apologised to a council director after comments made in relation to a $4 million reduction in Tatterson Park’s projected funding.
Keysborough Ward councillor and mayor Peter Brown apologised in front of Greater Dandenong councillors, directors and the chamber at the 14 August meeting for comments he made upon discovering the $4 million change in projected funding between the 2005-06 and 2006-07 council budgets.
Cr Brown said his comments had misrepresented the council’s development services director Mal Baker.
“I made some comments which have been reported in one of the newspapers which have adversely and significantly impacted on the professional integrity and standing of Mr Baker, director development services, and I unreservedly apologise to Mr Baker for the harm and the damage to his reputation that my comments may have made,” he said.
“I do apologise Mr Baker.”
