BRUCE MP Alan Griffin has been appointed Veterans’ Affairs Minister in the new Federal Government.
Mr Griffin joins Hotham MP Simon Crean as two local representatives to secure Cabinet places under the Rudd Labor Government.
Mr Griffin was spokesman for Veterans’ Affairs while Labor was in opposition and brings with him a wealth of prior knowledge and experience to the role.
Mr Griffin told Star he was incredibly proud to represent Australia’s ex and current servicemen and women and their families.
“I am very pleased to have been appointed the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs,” Mr Griffin said.
“It is a great responsibility to look after the needs of those who served our country so well over the years at times when the country needed them.
“I am also very pleased to be a minister in the Rudd Labor government and it is going to be a great challenge for the future, and an awful lot of work.
“But I am looking forward to the challenge.”
