Aged care boost

THE CITY of Greater Dandenong has given the green light to a new 160-bed aged care facility in Noble Park.
A building permit was this week approved to build a facility containing 160 single-bed rooms, each with an ensuite, along with communal dining and activity areas at 36-44 Buckley Street and 19 Noble Street, Noble Park.
Council voted in favour of the proposal that no more than 54 staff would be permitted on the site at any time between 7am and 3pm, with about 10 staff left overnight.
The proposal also states that a maximum of 52 car park spaces will be available, including disabled parking.
The council will remove 37 of the property’s 44 river red gums, which are indigenous to the area, with an officer’s report stating that most are ‘of poor health’.
