Centre plan move threat

Nathan Johnston
THE City of Greater Dandenong is considering shifting its Parkmore Customer Service Centre to the new Noble Park Community Centre when works are completed in January.
Councillors were recently briefed on the matter and will decide on the move in the coming weeks.
But Cr Roz Blades said she would push for the Parkmore customer service centre to be retained, and for the introduction of a smaller centre at the Noble Park Community Centre.
“The Keysborough area is growing so we should be increasing our presence in that area rather than reducing it.”
Cr Blades said the proposal to relocate the centre was aimed at providing a boost for Noble Park and its residents.
She said the council could achieve the desired result by incorporating a smaller customer service centre at Noble Park, whilst retaining its services at Parkmore.
“Cr Peter Brown and I have been looking into it and I’ve developed the view that it’s not a good idea to shift the services away from Parkmore in its entirety.
“We can have a winwin situation with my suggestion which I’ll be putting to the council at our next briefing session,” she said.
