A DANDENONG man was hit several times with an axe in a vicious assault in Doveton on the weekend. Detectives from the Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit are now calling for anyone with information to come forward.
Police said that at 8.30pm on Sunday 9 December a fight broke out at a party in a vacant house on Waratah Street.
A 20-year-old man from Rowville received a cut to his foot but police said they have not yet been told how it happened.
Police said a 20-year-old man from Dandenong was then chased up the street by a group of men and hit a number of times with an axe.
He received serious leg injuries and was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a stable condition. The 20-year-old Rowville man was taken to Dandenong Hospital for treatment.
Police have established a crime scene in Waratah Street and have seized a number of weapons as evidence.
There were approximately 30 to 40 witnesses at the scene.
