Two people in one of the south bound vehicles, a man and a woman, were taken by ambulance to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
The driver of the second south bound car, a man, was taken by road ambulance to The Alfred hospital.
Police said that the north bound vehicle was cut in two by the force of the crash.
