Noble Park boxed in

NOBLE Park’s first XI capitulated against Box Hill on Saturday, losing 7/24 to be dismissed for 134 on the first day of its Victorian Sub District Cricket Association match at Box Hill City Oval.
Openers Karl and Andrew Brown got the side off to a bright start, sharing in a 41-run opening stand until the former was bowled for 33.
Andrew Brown followed soon after for 22 with the total on 68.
When Paul Hill was trapped lbw for 9 the total was 3/74, but Rod Douthie and Dean Edmunds saw the side through to the break at 3/89 from 39 overs.
After the break, the total moved to 109 before Douthie was caught at square leg for 15.
From there it was a procession, with Edmunds (27) the only decent contributor as poor shot selection saw wickets being thrown away.
In reply, Box Hill reached 0/30 at stumps.
Noble Park’s second XI suffered a similar fate, wasting starts at the top of the order to be dismissed for 182.
Darren Seccull continuing his good form with 57, while Alex Shepherd (26) and Michael Todd (25) got starts but wasted them with some poor decisions.
At stumps Box Hill was 0/1.
The third XI had a day in the field with Box Hill recovering from 7/140 to finish 8/218 at stumps.
Deepjot Singh was the best of the Noble Park bowlers with 3/36.
The fourth XI reached 8/178 against Box Hill, with juniors Brede Seccull (43) and William Uren (29) performing well and Praveen Jaiswar (34) also contributing to the total.
