SOUTH East Water wants businesses, schools and community groups that have reduced their water use to enter the savewater! awards.
Pilkington Glass’ Geelong plant took out the state wide award last year, and the company’s Dandenong plant could be in the running after adopting the same 3R water saving principles of waste management: to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The savewater! awards recognise individuals or organisations that have made a commitment to water sustainability and have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to water conservation.
Now in its fourth year, the awards have emerged as the leading water sustainability prize in Victoria.
South East Water managing director Dennis Cavagna said the local water business was proud to be involved with the awards.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses, groups and individuals to be recognised for their innovative efforts in saving water and also share these initiatives with the broader community,” Mr Cavagna said.
“Winning a savewater! award has enabled many companies and individuals to spread the water conservation message and help other members of their community to use water more efficiently.
“A side benefit is that business and funding opportunities can also open up as a result of winning an award,” Mr Cavagna said.
Entries are welcome in a range of categories including manufacturing, government, education programs, garden management, regional business, community action and an overall award for excellence.
Entries close on Monday, 22 August with the winners announced during National Water Week in October.
Entry forms and more information are available at www.savewater.com.au
