THE man who drove a car into a Dandenong primary school is appealing a Supreme Court sentence of three years in jail.
The Supreme Court last month handed down a three-year prison sentence to Taban William Gany, 33, after the Director of Public Prosecutions appealed a similar length suspended sentence from the County Court.
Gany’s defence barrister Lachlan Carter this week said his client had lodged an application for leave to appeal the Supreme Court’s sentence, but no date had been set.
Gany was convicted of being three times the legal blood alcohol limit when he crashed into Dandenong West Primary School injuring several children in May last year.
One of the injured children, Dandenong’s Sabi Mashid, then 6, had to have his foot amputated.
