Senior citizens on the prowl for new members

KEYSBOROUGH Senior Citizens Club is on the prowl for new members over the age of 55 years looking to make new friends while enjoying fun activities and day trips.
The club presently has over 300 members but is looking to expand its social experience to older residents who may be lonely and looking for a safe and affordable way to make new friends.
Vice-president Nora Burridge said membership was just $8 a year and the club charged just $1 for each activity day, with afternoon tea included in the cost.
While bingo is one of the more popular activities, Ms Burridge said the Keysborough Senior Citizens Club played indoor bowls, watched live entertainment and hosted social barbecues among other things.
And the group of spritely residents also enjoys travelling.
Ms Burridge said day trips to places around Melbourne and Victoria were common, and once a year the club organised a week’s holiday somewhere around Australia.
“We go to Crown Casino quite regularly, and this year we had a river cruise along the Yarra River,” Ms Burridge said.
This week, she said, the club was having its annual trip in Canberra.
For more information on membership or the club’s activities, contact Nora Burridge on 9798 6503 or 9711 5711.
