FIGURES released by Land Victoria show median house prices in Greater Dandenong have risen 47 per cent in the five years to 2006.
The state’s metropolitan median house prices rose 20 per cent in the same period. In 1996, the median house price in Greater Dandenong was $95,000, but is now $257, 000.
City mayor Youhorn Chea said he was not surprised with the recently released figures.
“There are so many changes taking shape across the entire municipality and this is such an advantage for people choosing to move to the area or relocate within the city,” he said.
“Council is devoted to improving all aspects of our community from infrastructure needs to community service needs.”
“We live in such a fantastic municipality and one that has so much potential and the figures prove one thing – the secret is out: Greater Dandenong is the place to be.”
