SANDOWN Cobras were no match for the might of Canterbury, losing by 41 points at Edinburgh Reserve on Saturday.
The Cobras were never in the contest and trailed by 28 points at the first break.
Canterbury maintained that lead for most of the second and third quarters before kicking five goals to three in the last term to seal a convincing win.
Anthony Johnstone was the thorn in Sandown’s side, booting seven goals for Canterbury in a best-on-ground effort.
For the Cobras, Clint Sheedy contributed four goals, Caleb Love kicked two, and Daniel Mulvogue was best on ground.
Sandown has won just one game from five attempts, and sits second-last on the Southern Football League Division Three ladder.
This weekend the Cobras travel to Skye to take on the Bombers, who are bouncing back from a loss against Dandenong.
