THE mobile library is dead – but not yet buried.
Star can reveal that a Greater Dandenong councillor is fighting for it to be held in storage until a new council is elected in November.
Keysborough South Ward councillor Peter Brown will put forward a notice of motion at the 25 March council meeting proposing that the council not sell its mobile library prime mover and trailer until a new council is elected in November.
He is hoping a new council may make a different decision on the future of the cancelled service.
Cr Brown, a supporter of the mobile library, was to put forward the notice of motion at Monday night’s meeting but was absent.
Councillors ended the service late last year and since then have stood deeply divided on the issue.
