Oh sister, benefits there for all

THE CITY of Greater Dandenong Council has maintained there is an economic benefit to the city from its sister city relationship with China’s Xuzhou City.
Corporate services director Ross Hepburn responded to a question from Cleeland Ward councillor Paul Donovan over the economic benefits the city would reap from its relationship with Xuzhou.
He told the gallery of several examples of local manufacturers who have bagged deals with China in the past thanks to the city’s relationship with Xuzhou.
On a delegation trip to Australia to celebrate the 10-year relationship between the two cities, Xuzhou mayor Li Fu Quan last month told Star he would keenly follow Greater Dandenong’s business activity for opportunities.
Mr Hepburn said there were also cultural benefits, such as Greater Dandenong school children forming relationships with Xuzhou schools.
