POLICE say the community was put at risk when eight marked police vehicles had their tyres slashed earlier this month.
Dandenong Police were appalled to find the vehicles vandalised at 11.50pm on Monday, 1 May. Media liaison Amanda Hardy said police were able to change the tyres, but during that time did not have the same capacity to patrol the streets and respond to crimes.
“The price paid was more by the community than police,” she said.
“At the moment it might have been fun or revenge on police, but ultimately it was an offence against the community because it is the community who is directly affected by the police vehicles being delayed.”
