A NOBLE Park film group is calling for volunteers to help raise its profile by taking part in community service-based activities.
The Aus Audio Visual Art Association in Noble Park North, run by Vajira Ekanayake, is calling for volunteers to either sing or help staff a gift stall at Mother’s Day celebrations at aged-care homes in Carrum Downs this May.
Mr Ekanayake said the group had been working on a film that showed how many Sri Lankan immigrants to Australia had discovered great opportunities in their new country.
He said the film was coming together slowly but surely with the help of government grants.
But the group believed it should give back to the community if it was to receive grants, and so it had been undertaking community-service activities in the past.
“We have been going for five years. We do a lot of community service, including singing Christmas carols at hospitals and aged-care homes, and we make tea and coffee for blood donors in Clayton,” Mr Ekanayake said.
He said the group had about 45 members and had so far produced a script and fielded some actors.
The group now needs volunteers for singing and staffing a gift stall at an aged-care facility in Carrum Downs on Mother’s Day.
Those who want to be involved, should call Vajira Ekanayake on 0401 178 436.
