Handgun was no dream

A 50-year-old Dandenong man was awoken to the sight of a handgun being pointed at his head during an aggravated burglary last week.
Dandenong detectives said the handgun was an imitation but firearms charges would still be laid against the attackers when police caught them.
Detectives said that at 12.30am on 15 January the man and his 80-year-old mother were asleep in their McRae Street home when two men broke in, entered his bedroom , pointed the gun at his head and woke him up.
The man was taken to the front yard where the two men began to assault him, including hitting him in the head with the gun. The man is believed to have knocked the firearm from one of the attacker’s hands and the two men then fled to a nearby four-wheel-drive.
Police believe there were other people in the vehicle, possibly a mixture of men and women. The men drove off along Stud Road.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

THREE men stole mobile phones and cash from a 19-year-old train traveller at Sandown Train Station this week. Police are appealing for witnesses to help identify the three thieves after a 19-year-old Noble Park man was robbed at 11.19pm on Monday.
Police said the man had just left the train and was walking down the platform when three men, described as being of African appearance, demanded property and cash before one of the them reached over and grabbed two mobile phones and stole the man’s cash.
