New pair for classic hits

By Kelly Yates
SINGER Debra Byrne has had to cancel her two shows which were part of the Encore Morning Music Series at the Drum Theatre on 24 April at 10.30am and 1.30pm.
The theatre said the cancellations were beyond its control.
However, the theatre has been able to secure Wendy Stapleton and Nikki Nicholls, two of Australia’s finest female vocalists, to perform the show, Classic Hits and Memories.
The show will celebrate the great girl groups of the ’60s and ’70s and will include songs from Carole King, Petula Clark, Lulu and The Supremes.
Dandenong’s Drum Theatre manager Paul Streefkerk said the theatre was disappointed Byrne couldn’t perform but understands there were uncontrollable circumstances.
Mr Streefkerk said Stapleton had previously performed the show Dusty, Doris and Me at the Drum Theatre back in June last year but this would be the first time for Nicholls.
A letter has been sent out to all ticket holders of the two Debra Byrne performances informing them of the change.
The theatre will refund any patrons who do not wish to attend the replacement show.
