THE Lyndale Pumas are two from two after prevailing by 36 points in a low-scoring Southern Football League Division Two match against Murrumbeena at Barry J. Powell Reserve on Saturday.
Eight goals were enough to secure the four points for the Pumas, as Murrumbeena could only produce two six-pointers.
Lyndale coach Paul Wilson said it was great to record a win considering two important milestones were being played.
“Tristan Caples played his 200th game and it Ed McLean’s 250th, so it was good to get a win for those boys,” he said. “But the real test will be this weekend against Dingley.”
Andrew McCracken was best on ground for the Pumas, while Caples and Mark Greene top-scored with two goals each.Ashwood v Springvale Districts
SPRINGVALE Districts served up its first 100-point thrashing of the season and coach Stephen Hughes hopes there is plenty more to come.
The Demons belted Ashwood by 108 points at Essex Heights Reserve on Saturday to become the third Division Two side to be undefeated after two games. Mark Williams booted nine goals for Springvale, and was well assisted by Gavin Vassallo, who kicked three, as did Mark Riley. Coach Stephen Hughes said he was impressed by the Demons’ first-quarter effort.
“Seven goals to one in the first term kicking against the breeze was fantastic,” he said.
“We are applying much more midfield pressure and are playing good accountable football this season – that’s where our improvement has been.”
Young gun Brendan Ashman was best on ground for the Demons and veteran Robbie Burns also impressed.
