A MARKET garden inferno confronted firefighters in Lyndhurst, near Dandenong South, on Saturday morning.
Firefighters were called to Dandenong-Frankston Road at 1.10am, and located the fire just south of Colemans Road in an area covered by the Carrum Downs Country Fire Brigade.
The site was a market garden property with a house and a tree-lined dirt driveway.
Firefighters said the brick veneer house was well alight when they arrived, and additional tankers had to be called to help supply water. But the brigade had to wait for power company electricians to shut off the local power source before tackling the blaze, as the electricity box was also on fire.
No-one was harmed in the blaze, but firefighters said the house was extensively damaged and its structure would be investigated by Country Fire Authority invesitgators.
Brigades on scene included Dandenong, Hallam, Hampton Park, Carrum Downs, Skye and Patterson River.
