KEYSBOROUGH South Ward councillor Peter Brown will be temporary mayor of Greater Dandenong while sitting mayor Youhorn Chea flies to China as part of a council delegation to sister city Xuzhou.
The mayor will be out of the country from 20 September until 1 October, and at Monday night’s meeting councillors voted that Cr Brown take his place during that period.
Cr Brown was mayor for the 12 months from November 2005 until Cr Chea was voted in during November 2006.
A temporary mayor is appointed so the council has someone to chair its meetings during Cr Chea’s absence.
