A SEVEN-goal-to-zip first quarter had the four points in the bag for Noble Park on Saturday.
The Bulls thrashed the East Burwood by 98 points at Pat Wright Oval in front of a boisterous crowd all eager to see round one of the Eastern Football League (EFL) kick into action.
Aaron Cole starred, booting 11 goals in a knockout performance that devastated the Rams’ defenders.
If Noble Park wanted to send a warning message to the rest of the competition, Saturday’s comprehensive victory ensured it was delivered loud and clear.
The Bulls had contributions all over the ground and Craig Anderson, Daniel Rigg and Daniel Donati all impressed.
But it was Cole who shone the brightest.
His attack on the ball was precise and his set shot conversion almost faultless.
The Bulls led 11 goals to three at half-time, and continued their charge towards an emphatic victory as soon as play resumed.
Former playing coach Shane Burgmann said his first day in the box as a full-time coach didn’t cause too many headaches.
“It went very smoothly. It really gave me a chance to see things unfold as they happened,” he said.
“The guys in the midfield really worked hard and gave us first use of the ball. Anderson and Rigg were dominant.”
Burgmann praised the efforts of young gun recruits Nicholas Williams and Ziggie Alwan.
“They were great. We gave them as much game time as possible and they performed well,” he said.
Noble Park returns to Pat Wright this Saturday to play Blackburn.
