
THE Dandenong Rangers thrashed Diamond Valley 120-77 on Saturday night at the Dandenong Basketball Stadium, and returned to the court on Sunday afternoon to record a 97-84 victory against the Melbourne Tigers at the Veneto Club.
The Rangers shot at 88 per cent against Diamond Valley in the first game of the double header, led by Ash Cannan, who scored 22 points and snared 10 rebounds.
The depth of the Rangers’ roster was shown again with 48 points coming off the bench.
Dandenong’s ability to get to the line was also on show, with 37 free shots taken for 24 points.
A massive 39-17 point final term sealed the win for Dandenong.
On Sunday afternoon, Dandenong came from seven points down at half-time to sweep aside the Tigers and jump to top spot on the Big V Championship ladder with a 13-point win.
Dandenong scored 56 points to Melbourne’s 36 in the second half.
Brent Hobba was unstoppable, recording his second 40-plus point game for the season.
This Saturday night, Dandenong returns to Stud Road to take on Werribee.
The Dandenong women’s side had a horror weekend on the road, losing to Hume City 82-52 on Saturday night and going down 73-58 against Melbourne on Sunday.
Tarryn Ring and Melissa Colcott were the Rangers’ best players across the two matches.
The Rangers return to Dandenong this Sunday afternoon to take on Geelong.
