STAGE show Cats will prowl into Dandenong’s Drum Theatre for tomorrow night’s opening performance.
The Windmill Theatre Company show will open on Friday 13 June at 8pm and run it through to Sunday 29 June.
The dance-based musical showcases a blend of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music and T.S. Eliot’s poems, with the story expressed through both song and dance.
A popular musical for the whole family, Cats explores the fascinating world of the Jellicle Cats.
The show will feature about 35 up-and-coming actors and dancers from the Berwick-based theatre company.
The show is directed by Andrew Edge and choreographed by Karen Ingwersen.
Production manager Mike Schmizzi said the show would be magical, dynamic and energetic, with a few surprises added.
He said Windmill was the fifth theatre company in Victoria to perform the Broadway show.
Drum Theatre manager Paul Streefkerk said this was the first time a production of Cats had been performed at the Drum Theatre.
He said the ticket sales were matching the success of the Dandenong Theatre Company’s production of Les Miserables in 2006.
Tickets cost $31 for members, $35 for adults, $31 for concessions and $20 for children and are available from the Drum Theatre box office on 9771 6666.
