DANDENONG’S Cornerstone Contact Centre helped more than 100 disadvantaged people celebrate Easter with a weekend of delicious meals, a spiritual service, and, of course, some chocolate Easter eggs.
On Good Friday 100 people attend the drop-in lunch at Cornerstone.
Pastor Don Cameron spoke about the significance of Easter, and later that evening those in attendance shared a Good Friday dinner.
On Easter Saturday, Cornerstone opened its doors in the morning and drop-in participants were given hot cross buns and Easter eggs.
Another dinner was held on Saturday night, which again drew a large crowd, organisers said.
Sunday marked Cornerstone’s annual Easter Sunday Breakfast, and Pastor Max Walker said this year’s event had the largest crowd since the breakfast was first held in 1996.
More than 80 people attended this year’s breakfast, including a group from the Sudanese community.
Pastor Walker spoke on the significance of the Easter Sunday, with particular attention given to the story of the Doubting Thomas.
Cornerstone again gave attendees Easter eggs, and remained open until 11am.
