CHAMPION defender Emily McInerney and three-point specialist Caitlin Ryan have been re-signed by the Dandenong Rangers for season 2007-08.
Former Townsville guard Rachael Flanagan has also joined Dandenong in pursuit of a Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) championship.
After the controversial off-season sacking of Gary Fox, who coached the Rangers to two WNBL championships, three consecutive grand finals and four-straight finals series, the pressure is on new coach Dale Waters to perform in the coming season.
Waters was excited about the signing of new-recruit Flanagan.
“We are very pleased to have signed a player of Rachel’s experience and quality and I look forward to having her in the WNBL program,” he said.
Flanagan has played with the Townsville Fire for the past three season and was keen to move south to be closer to her Adelaide-based family.
“I am excited about my move down to Melbourne to play with the Rangers and a new young coach Dale Waters,” she said.
“In regards to my basketball career I see this as my next move and Dandenong has all the characteristics of the type of program that I am looking for, to help me take my game to the next level.”
