COUNTRY music star Adam Harvey had audiences on the edge of their seats during his only Melbourne show at Dandenong’s Drum Theatre.
Supported by Catherine Britt, the duo performed an unforgettable show last Wednesday night that left the audience wanting more.
Britt opened the show with an acoustic song that showed the power and clarity in her unique voice.
Dressed in a classic black dress, the barefoot singer received a roaring applause when she sang a version of the Guns ‘n’ Roses hit Sweet Child of Mine.
Harvey then took centre stage like a true entertainer, engaging the audience from his first note.
The charismatic singer had the whole theatre singing and dancing in their seats.
Both singers then performed several songs together for the show’s finale, and Harvey announced he would return to Dandenong later this year to perform alongside Troy Cassar-Daley.
In an interview with the Star, Harvey said he enjoyed singing at the Drum Theatre because it was a venue built for musical artists.
“I enjoy being close to the audience. For a performer, it’s a relaxing feeling,” he said.
Harvey admitted to suffering from severe nerves about 10 years ago when he was supporting artists such as Gina Jeffreys and Kasey Chambers.
“I ended up having hypnotherapy and ever since then, I’ve never felt nervous,” he said.
The six-time Golden Guitar winner said he drew his inspiration from the people around him.
“Everyone has a story to tell and most of the time an aspect of that story sparks an idea in my head,” he said.
“I always carry a recorder around with me and nine times out of 10, most ideas become great songs.”
