DANDENONG’S Drum Theatre is rolling out the red carpet for country music superstars Adam Harvey and Catherine Britt.
The pair will perform a one-off show on Wednesday 25 June, which is Mr Harvey’s only appearance in Melbourne, as part of a joint tour accompanied by a well-credited band.
The performance will kick off at 8pm and will be the first time both musicians have performed at the Drum Theatre.
Mr Harvey, the colourful and engaging performer, is a six-time Golden Guitar winner.
His musical delivery has shades of Johnny Cash, with a touch of Elvis.
Ms Britt won the praise of Elton John after he discovered her during his 2002 Australian tour.
The Newcastle-born star shot to fame at the age of 18 after recording a duet with the British superstar.
In an interview with the Star, Ms Britt said she would never forget singing alongside megastar Elton John.
“It was such an honour to sing with him. It just blew my mind,” she said.
Currently living out of a suitcase, travelling back and forth between Nashville and Australia, Ms Britt said her new album featured guest artists Keith Urban, Tommy Emmanuel and Buddy Miller.
Ms Britt’s music explores the conflicting emotions that come with self-doubt, being in love and living in a city filled with ever changing challenges and opportunities.
She will also appear at the 2008 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Ms Britt said she was looking forward to visiting Dandenong for the first time.
“I worked with Adam a long time ago as his support act so it’s great to be playing along side him during our tour,” she said.
Drum Theatre manager Paul Streefkerk said the show was a great opportunity to hear, see and meet two of Australia’s best country artists.
Tickets are available from the Drum Theatre box office on 9771 6666.
