DANDENONG Demons remain undefeated on the SFL division three ladder after a nail-biting win against Sandown at Edinburgh Reserve on Saturday.
The see-sawing match tipped in favour of Sandown midway through the final quarter, but inaccurate goal kicking eventually cannibalised the Cobras.
Sandown booted 14 goals and 15 behinds for the day, and had eight more scoring shots than Dandenong, who kicked 17 goals and four behinds.
But it was the Demons who escaped with a courageous win.
Dandenong’s Vaughan Geddes booted two crucial last quarter goals to wrestle the lead from the Cobras and then seal victory for the Demons. Geddes kicked four goals and was best on ground.
Clint Sheedy bagged four goals for Sandown, but the Demons backline of Chris Hawken and Brad Rae held strong and forced most of Sandown’s set shots against the boundary line.
Sandown coach Michael Allen said plenty of positives came from the game despite the loss.
“We panicked in the last five minutes, but we’re headed in the right direction. The team is starting to gel well,” he said.
“Having a bye this weekend will give us a chance to correct some niggling injuries, and to have a look at the Doveton Eagles.”
This Saturday, Dandenong hosts the Doveton Eagles.

@BT Sub Sport News:Doveton v South Yarra

AFTER starting the season with two wins from three consecutive home games, the Doveton Eagles will travel only minutes to take on the Dandenong Demons in their first away game of 2007.
The Eagles defeated South Yarra by 14 points in a come-from-behind victory at Power Reserve on Saturday.
The win elevated the Eagles to fourth on the division three ladder, a rung that has eluded them for the past two seasons.
Peter Dye was again the go-to man for the Eagles, kicking three goals and dominating the forward flanks for Doveton.
The Eagles trailed South Yarra for most of the day, by 18 points at half-time and 16 points at three-quarter-time.
But in a true sign that the next generation has arrived at Power Reserve, Doveton battled back and stole victory.
Stephen Wright and Todd Humphries both booted two goals for the Eagles.
Daryl Thomas was best afield for Doveton having accumulating countless possessions.
