THE highly anticipated Southern Football League division two blockbuster between Dingley and Lyndale proved to be a non-event, with the Dingoes belting the Pumas by 101 points at Souter Oval on Saturday.
Dingley firmed as premiership favourites, but the odds of the Dingoes winning the flag are not nearly short as those for Adam Quinn winning the SFL division two goal-kicking award.
Coach Quinn booted another 13 goals against a hapless Lyndale backline unable to stop his strong leading and accurate kicking.
In round one, he booted 10, in round two 13 – taking his season tally to 36 from just three games.
Around the ground, Lyndale could not match the Dingoes’ height, and managed only eight goals for the game.
Matt Caples booted two for the Pumas.
Quinn was happy with his side’s effort and couldn’t fault the delivery of the ball from the midfield into attack.
“It was a pretty hot contest in the first half – we played well,” he said.
Despite kicking 13 goals, Quinn rued his own missed opportunities.
“I probably missed eight shots, which was disappointing. There is still plenty of improvement to come all over the ground,” he said.
Best on ground for Dingley were Steve DeBolfo, Justin English and Paddy Edwards.
The Pumas’ best included Roan Diorta Ekanaike, Anthony Grace and captain Tristan Caples.
This weekend, Dingley travels to Hampton and Lyndale travels to Springvale to contest the Springvale RSL Cup.
