SPRINGVALE City handed Doveton its second consecutive 3-0 defeat in a Football Federation Victoria State League Three thumping at Ross Reserve on Saturday.
The Doves have hit rock bottom, slid to fifth on the ladder and are a shadow of the same side that started the season so impressively.
Springvale City, on the other hand, is a side on the rise and now occupies fourth on the table with six wins, five losses and a newly discovered positive goal difference.
The home side was never threatened by the once potent Doveton attack and was easily repelled by the Springvale defenders.
Springvale City led 1-0 at half-time, thanks to a Jusuf Pekmezovic strike, and put the result beyond doubt with another goal to Pekmezovic and one to Elvedin Klancevic – sealing the deal.
This weekend Springvale hosts Nunawading City, while Doveton travels to play Southern Suburbs.
In other State League Three matches, Endeavour United retained top spot on the ladder with a 4-1 away win against Sandringham City.
Damien Ithier, two goals to Muhammed Kirmaci and an own goal, gave United’s goal difference a healthy boost.
Berwick City could not overcome Southern Suburbs, losing 2-1.
Matthew Nitz scored Berwick’s goal, but was the sole name on the scoresheet.
On Saturday, Berwick travels to Mooroolbark and Endeavour travels to play Eastern Lions.
