THOUSANDS of dollars were raised for local charities at the Greater Dandenong Mayoral Charity Ball on Saturday with the figure set to rise as the council continues counting donations.
The evening was held at the Grand International reception centre in Thomas Street, Dandenong, and included a three-course meal and live entertainment.
City mayor Youhorn Chea released a statement this week declaring the evening a success, saying it had raised at least $8000 for local charities.
“The spirit of giving and community generosity in Greater Dandenong is obviously alive and well,” Cr Chea said.
“This is a satisfying result not only for myself as mayor, but particularly for the charities involved.
“Joeys Van, Dandenong and District Benevolent Society, Springvale Benevolent Society and Alzheimer’s Australia will each benefit from an equal share of the thousands of dollars raised during the event.”
Cr Chea thanked everyone involved in the night.
