THE Ethnic Communities Council of the South East (ECCOSE) has moved to strengthen ties with community services in Greater Dandenong by signing memorandums of understanding.
ECCOSE celebrated its fifth anniversary and held its annual general meeting on Friday 23 November at the Al-Janou reception centre in Dandenong.
Sam Afra JP was elected unopposed as chairperson, with Darshan Singh as deputy chairman.
As part of its fifth birthday celebrations, ECCOSE signed memorandums of understanding between itself and the Dandenong Community Advice Bureau (DCAB), and the Springvale Community Aid and Advice Bureau (SCAAB).
Mr Afra said he signed the memorandums with DCAB chairperson Roz Blades and SCAAB chairman Graham Hooper.
The signings were witnessed by James Merlino, the Minister assisting the Premier on Multicultural Affairs.
Mr Afra said the memorandums were “to mark the importance of our partnership in servicing our culturally and linguistically diverse communities”.
“Next, ECCOSE is planning to sign a memorandum of understanding with the new mayor of the City of Greater Dandenong, and also with Adult Multicultural Education Services.”
