A FLYING tribute to Vietnam Veterans is now on show at the Dandenong RSL.
Community radio announcer Andrew ‘Ziggy’ Gizycki de Gozdawa recently donated a diorama of a 1967 C-130 Hercules to the RSL and while it is too small to require an aircraft hangar, it’s big enough to stand out in the RSL’s foyer.
The Hercules was used in the Vietnam War to transport large numbers of troops from Australia to Vietnam.
It was noted for its rock solid service and ability to land on short runways despite its size.
Vietnam Veteran John Wells said he served with the 108 Field Battery and had travelled on the C-130.
“They were very stable, solid, yet very cold inside,” he said.
Mr Gizycki de Gozdawa last year donated paintings depicting the Vietnam War to the Dandenong RSL as part of his father’s dying wish.
