THE two form sides of the Southern Football League Division Two competition, Lyndale and Dingley, contest this week’s Star Match of the Round at Souter Oval on Saturday.
After two convincing wins to commence the season, both the Pumas and the Dingoes will be vying for victory and a perfect 3-0 start to the year.
But the lead-up to this weekend’s game could not be more different for the two teams.
Dingley pummelled a pitiful Parkmore line-up by 246 points on Saturday in a match that would have zapped about as much energy from the Dingoes as a pre-season training session.
Lyndale, on the other hand, was forced to slog out a hard-fought win against Murrumbeena.
Pumas coach Paul Wilson described the match as an “arm wrestle”, but was adamant his side would be able to back up and beat Dingley.
“Either way it’s going to be a good way of measuring exactly where we are at,” he said.
Dingoes coach Adam Quinn has booted 23 goals in two games and has the ability to win the game off his own boot.
Wilson wouldn’t reveal who Quinn’s match-up would be, but said he had a number of options.
“Adam will know at 2pm on Saturday who I’ve got up my sleeve, but I’ve spoken to a specific player and he will be up to the task,” Wilson said.
Prediction: Experience will give Dingley the X-factor over Lyndale at Souter Oval. Adam Quinn will be held to less than 10 goals, but the young Lyndale midfield will be outclassed. Dingley to win by 44 points.
